To New Beginnings and Becoming a Better Blogger

2015 is upon us and while for some it may be the bittersweet ending of one year, I see it as the wonderful beginning of another. One that will hopefully be much bigger and better.

2014 was nowhere near as spectacular as I had hoped it would be. And while many great things came of it, (like this blog, for instance) there were many not so great things that plagued my personal life. This was fairly evident in my inability to post regularly and the overall lack of effort I was able to put into things other than managing to get myself out of bed of a morning.

I am disappointed in my blogging over the course of 2014, but I know that wallowing about in self pity will do nothing to support the cause. The cause, of course, being to become a better blogger.

The whole "New Year, New Me" concept is always surrounded by a lot of mockery, and I agree, it's terribly cliché. But that's not to say that it isn't a step in the right direction. 2015 brings with it a new beginning, a blank canvas. Though my artistic ability is severely limited, I hope to create a work of art.

While the chinese calendar may say that 2015 is the year of the goat, I say this: 2015 is the year of The Girly Geek.

Now you might be thinking: "What can I expect from The Girly Geek in 2015?" (You might not also be thinking that because let's be honest, there are much more important things in life) but here is the answer anyways: much, much more.

  • You'll be seeing a minimum of three posts per week. Usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This may become a little bit sporadic once school returns, especially considering this is my HSC year (*cries*) but I will not let myself fall behind.
  • More new memes and features! I've had an insane amount of ideas over the past few months that I never had the chance to execute but expect to see some new and unique posts coming your way.
  • An increase in reviews! In 2014 I only posted 18 reviews but this year I've challenged myself to post a minimum of 30. It may not seem like a whole lot compared to others, but its quite a significant increase for me.
  • A couple of interesting discussions! I've always shied away from posting discussions in fear that nobody will actually discuss. I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
  • A BOATLOAD OF COMMENTS. In 2014 I realised the importance of commenting and networking, so I am going to do my best to contribute to the community as much as I can.
  • Possibly some non-bookish posts? Aside from books and reading I have always been very interested in lifestyle and creative activities such as crafts, DIY, decorating and baking. So I hope to share a little bit more of my creative side this year.
I fully understand that these things may seem awfully obvious and quite insignificant, but my first year of blogging was kind of a flop, and this year I am determined to make up for it.

Raise your imaginary champagne glass! This is it. To new beginnings! And to becoming a better blogger!

You'll be hearing from me very soon.
