Waiting on Wednesday #4

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on I Was Here by Gayle Forman!

Title: I Was Here
Author: Gayle Forman
Publisher: Viking Juvenile

Synopsis:
Cody and Meg were inseparable.
Two peas in a pod.
Until . . . they weren’t anymore.

When her best friend Meg drinks a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything—so how was there no warning? But when Cody travels to Meg’s college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there’s a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, who broke Meg’s heart. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can’t open—until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend’s death gets thrown into question.

I Was Here is Gayle Forman at her finest, a taut, emotional, and ultimately redemptive story about redefining the meaning of family and finding a way to move forward even in the face of unspeakable loss.

If you know me, then you know that Gayle Forman is one my favourite authors. Ever. Her books continue to make me emotional long after I have put them down and I cannot even put to words how much I have loved her characters.

If I Stay and Just One Day are my favorite duologies. Knowing Gayle, I am certain that this book will be equally as emotional and heart-wrenching.

The premise of I Was Here is incredibly intriguing and I am awfully interested to see how Gayle executes it, as suicide is often a difficult subject. I know this book is going to be an emotional roller coaster and I am so incredibly excited!

I Was Here is set to be released on January 27th 2015 by Viking Juvenile!

  7. Whenever someone asks me if I prefer ebooks or physical books, I always say that I prefer physical books, however, I can definitely see the benefits of ebooks.
This being said, I only download ebooks when they are either free (on ibooks) or if they're temporary (from the library).
Of course, I'm the same with music. I hate buying off iTunes, even though it's cheaper, because I prefer owning CDs...

  9. Hahah I'm almost exactly the same.. I do prefer physical books but sometimes ebooks are much more convenient, especially cost-wise. It's so hard to buy books when you're a student and don't have a job! :(

  10. Trust me...being a student and having a job isn't much better :/

  11. Thank you! And I definitely see why eBooks are convenient! You have some really great points. I'm kind of on the in between in terms of my balance of physical and ebooks, but in terms of preference I'm physical all the way!

  12. You made those infographics? I'M IMPRESSED. I also 100% agree with you about ebooks being a good thing - I'm a hardcore hardcover lover, but I'm a fan of anything that gets people reading!
